There are two types of bombay cats. The British Bombay cat is the name given to black cats of the Asian group. It is a cat of Burmese type with a black coat, toes, nose, and green or deep, rich gold to copper eyes. The American Bombays have copper or golden eyes, and a jet-black coat. Occasionally, a Bombay kitten may be born sable colored or have a few white hairs on the chest, ears, or, tail, because of its relation to the Burmese.Bombays are attached to their family, and tend to love the entire family rather than bond with only one person. Fanciers say they are particularly good with children. The Bombay is calm, gentle and affectionate. This solid, medium-size cat was created in the 1950s by crossing sable Burmese with black American Shorthairs. His short, velvety coat is easy to care for. The Bombay is a highly social breed that loves to be in the company of others. Bombays tend to be attached to their families and crave attention, and for this reason this breed is highly suitable for children.
