No cat is completely non-allergenic. There is no scientific evidence that any breed of cat is less allergenic than another breed. “Hypoallergenic” cat breed just means the cats in that breed tend to produce fewer allergens than other cats. Some breeds that are considered hypoallergenic include the Devon Rex, the Sphynx cat, the Balinese, the Oriental Shorthair, and the Siberian. In addition, not every cat within the breed will affect a person’s allergies the same way, so it’s important to meet the cat. You can also try to reduce the allergens on your cat and around your home to help with your allergies.
