We have wanted to toilet train Mau for a while, but the commercial toilet training kits have seemed like a waste of money. We figured we would attempt to make our own and for only $1.
We visited our local Dollar Tree and bought a simple tin pan, molded it to fit the toilet bowl, and filled it with litter. Mau did pretty well on it, though she was definitely hesitant at first. After we cut a hole in it, she became way less confident and resorted to eliminating in the shower.
We tried this out two different times, but we finally decided to go with a commercial one called CitiKitty. As a result, Mau has been much more confident. Considering that we would spend about $10 a month on litter, the $30 investment for the CitiKitty seemed like a bargain.
