Well. There we all were. Jolene, Jessica and Jenn, hanging out on the South Platte River Bridge watching the river and celebrating that it didn’t reach Jo’s house.
And then a woman comes up and says “We need your help!” (we all had animal shirts on) There was a little kitten stranded on river rocks, a few feet from the river itself. She couldn’t get back up the cliff to safety.
Jessica went down to check it out. Kitty wasn’t feral, pretty tame but was very scared. Kitty dipped into the rocks and hid. Jessica couldn’t quite reach her, so Jenn went down with her chicken arms (thank you God!) and after a short coaxing was able to scruff Kitty and squeeze her through the rocks and then we rushed her to the car to calm down.
I’ve never seen a cat tremble that way. Physically just trembling and trembling… Jolene brought tuna and Kitty started to eat. She is in pretty good health and she is now resting. She will see the vet on Monday, but isn’t in immediate need so we want her to just calm down. She is bout 4 months old and a female. She will need a foster or adopter, as soon as possible. She is doing fine with dogs and cats…. which is strange. Could she be yours? We will search for an owner before placing up for adoption.
Thanks to the caring people, Monna Trueblood and Becky Jones for not ignoring the kitten. For asking for help. That kitten was indeed in danger…. she is no longer.
And we can’t think of a more fitting name, than “River.”
